The Role

We are looking for an Energy Transition Consultant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. This role will include working with data and models, research, and report writing. It may also involve project management depending on the individual’s experience and aptitude. Main job activities include:
  • Conduct research (primary and secondary methods) and collect data to populate models and develop reporting content for clients.
  • Populate and run end-use energy models to estimate energy consumption, peak demand, and GHG emissions under different scenarios.
  • Analyze and synthesize research and model outputs to develop insights.
  • Write reports, deliver presentations, and create data visualization tools to communicate results and recommendations.
  • Work closely with colleagues and clients to ensure projects are on schedule and budget, and deliverables meet expectations. 
  • Other tasks as required, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
 
  • A degree in Engineering, Data Science, Economics or similar
  • 2-5 years of experience (co-op experience can be included)
  • Intermediate or advanced MS Excel user (able to competently use Excel for data analysis including use of various functions, pivot tables, and macros)
  • Basic coding skills (Python, R)
  • Ability to communicate technical information in written and oral formats (i.e., reports and presentations)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Comfortable working with datasets and conducting quantitative analysis
  • Experience with data visualization (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Able to work independently and complete work on time 
  • Takes initiative to learn new information and skills

The anticipated salary band for this position is $80,000 - $96,000 with flexibility based on experience. Preferred work locations are Ottawa, Toronto, or Vancouver but we will consider applicants based in other Canadian locations. The anticipated start date is in May 2025.
